For higher education institutions located in certain regions of Ukraine, the regional coefficients used in calculating applicants’ competitive scores have been updated.
This was announced by the Ministry of Education and Science of Ukraine.
A regional coefficient of 1.07 will apply to higher education institutions in the Zaporizhzhia, Mykolaiv, Odesa, Sumy and Kharkiv regions.
A coefficient of 1.04 has been set for universities in the Dnipropetrovsk, Poltava and Chernihiv regions.
This coefficient is taken into account when calculating an applicant’s competition score and depends on the actual location of the higher education institution to which the application is being submitted.
Consequently, applicants who choose universities in specific regions will receive an additional bonus on their competitive score.
Oksen Lisovyi, Minister of Education and Science, emphasised that the state is actively supporting universities that continue to operate in frontline regions. According to him, such institutions remain important centres of resilience for their communities and regions.
The Ministry of Education and Science explains that the update to the regional coefficients is intended to support higher education institutions operating in areas with heightened security risks, as well as to encourage prospective students to choose universities in these regions.
