Kyiv schools and kindergartens are operating normally. All responsible persons in educational institutions have received appropriate instructions on the safety of children and teachers.
This was announced by Deputy Head of the Kyiv City State Administration Valentyn Mondriyivskyi.
According to him, the most pressing issue at the moment is the safety of schoolchildren.
«For three weeks now, the staff of educational institutions has been receiving emergency training, and I can assure everyone that our teachers are ready to act clearly and prudently in any situation. They know the sequence of actions and how to behave in emergency situations, where shelters are located and what route to take to get there. The most important thing now is not to panic, but for you and me, parents, to explain to our children the need to listen carefully to teachers and follow their instructions. This is the only way to save the lives of our children,» said Mondrievsky.
He also reminded of the rules of operation of schools under quarantine restrictions.
«The leadership of the capital made the right decision regarding the work of educational institutions, namely not to introduce a general lockdown. School principals make decisions about switching to distance learning for a class or school based on the performance of their unit. Thus, in Kyiv, the vast majority of schools continued to operate, and the incidence has now declined. Today, only 19 out of 425 schools in the capital are fully remote, and just over one per cent of students are sick with COVID-19,» Mondriyevsky said.
As for kindergartens, only 6 out of 580 pre-schools have been closed due to COVID-19.
