Psychologist Svitlana Royz and her team have prepared a manual called «Safety Superheroes», which contains recommendations for parents on how to prepare their children for possible emergencies.
She announced this on her Facebook page.
According to her, it is important to talk to children about emergencies, in particular, so that the information they may receive during the emergency itself does not shock or traumatise them.
«Preparation makes the child's stress «expert», takes him or her and the adult out of the state of traumatic helplessness and vulnerability. By explaining, we counteract anxiety with productive actions,» said Svitlana Royse.
The psychologist also stressed that adults should talk to children about safety not because something dangerous is about to happen, but to «train the “safety muscle”».
«You need this to feel strong in any difficult situation and to feel protected,» said Svitlana Royz.
For example, the algorithm for preparing children for potential emergencies proposed by a psychologist includes three points: theoretical information and explanations of why it is necessary; involvement in a training game; and consolidation in a training action.
The guide explains how to prepare children for alarm sirens, possible natural disasters, what to do if they get stuck in a lift, and how to properly communicate information about the safety kit.
