The Verkhovna Rada adopted as a basis a draft law on improving the scientific and methodological support of education and the quality of educational literature.
The decision was voted for by 301 MPs.
The purpose of the draft law is to establish clear requirements for the quality of educational literature, especially that used in schools, and a mechanism for verifying compliance with these requirements, as well as to clarify the powers of the Ministry of Education and Science to provide scientific and methodological support to the education system.
In particular, the draft law proposes to establish a list of powers of the Ministry of Education and Science regarding scientific and methodological support of education, to clarify the rights of other institutions and organisations regarding scientific and methodological support of education, and to establish a list of principles that should be followed by educational literature used in the educational process.
In addition, the draft law defines the mandatory examination of educational literature produced at the expense of the state budget and establishes the right to initiate an examination of educational literature produced at the expense of individuals and legal entities for compliance with the requirements of the law.
