The Ministry of Education is implementing the New Ukrainian School reform, which aims to create a school that is a pleasure to learn in.
This was emphasised by Minister of Education Serhiy Shkarlet during a meeting with the head of the UN Children's Fund (UNICEF) in Ukraine, Lotta Sylwander.
According to him, the New Ukrainian School will provide students not only with knowledge but also with the ability to apply it in everyday life.
The purpose of the meeting between the Minister of Education and the UNICEF Representative in Ukraine was to continue cooperation on the implementation of educational reforms, including the New Ukrainian School, inclusive education, distance learning, education in the context of the pandemic and the conflict in eastern Ukraine.
In addition, Serhiy Shkarlet thanked UNICEF for the support received by the Ukrainian education system and the Ministry of Education.
«We greatly appreciate the assistance of UNICEF at all levels of education - in preschool education, inclusive education, school education, and in creating safe conditions for education. I see this meeting as an opportunity to present the vision of systemic transformations in the education sector, inform about further plans to implement key educational reforms and confirm the relevant commitments of the government and the ministry team,» said the Minister of Education.
In addition, he assured the head of the UNICEF office that all the reforms and systemic changes in the education sector declared by the Cabinet of Ministers and the Ministry are inevitable.
