The Ministry of Education and Science intends to implement the digital transformation of Ukrainian education and science over the next five years.
The relevant draft Concept for the Digital Transformation of Education and Science for the period up to 2026 has been developed by the relevant ministry.
The Ministry of Education and Science emphasises that today's education and science system must undergo fundamental digital changes and meet global trends in digital development to ensure that everyone can successfully fulfil their potential.
«Today, more and more professions require a high level of digital skills and mastery of new technologies. This need has also been exacerbated by the consequences of the COVID-19 coronavirus pandemic, which has exacerbated the problem of developing and mastering technologies in the education system to ensure the rights of citizens to quality education,» the authors of the document note.
It is expected that the adoption of the concept will help solve the problems associated with the low level of digital competence of participants in the educational process, outdated content of education in computer science subjects, lack of modern equipment and technologies, and sufficient Internet coverage in institutions.
In addition, according to the authors of the document, the concept will help solve the problems of the lack of high-quality digital educational content for education, eliminate the problems of bureaucratisation of internal document flow processes of institutions and institutions, non-transparency of research funding for Ukrainian scientists, etc.
The concept is also aimed at optimising and automating management and regulation in the field of education and science, including ensuring transparent and effective regulation of business entities, such as licensing of educational institutions, certification of scientific institutions and accreditation of educational programmes.
According to the authors of the concept, the ultimate goal of the document is to use digital technologies to transform processes in the education and science system in order to simplify, automate and make them more convenient for users.
The Ministry of Education predicts that the implementation of the concept will have a positive impact on ensuring legal regulation aimed at developing the digital educational environment, including infrastructure, digital competencies of teachers and students, creation of digital educational content, automation and digitalisation of regulatory and management processes, etc.
«The implementation of this Concept will enable the digital transformation of educational institutions, in which pedagogical and research staff, as well as students, have digital competencies, are provided with digitally equipped, modern workplaces, and access to digital content for personal development and lifelong learning,» the draft document says.
