The Ministry of Finance emphasises that every hryvnia invested in education should be transformed into tangible results and an increase in the quality of education. This was stated by First Deputy Minister of Finance Roman Yermolychev during the conference "Quality Education and Effective Community".
The official said that the draft state budget for 2026 provides UAH 274 billion for the education sector, which is UAH 75 billion more than this year. Of this amount, UAH 190.5 billion is planned to be spent on salaries for education workers.
Yermolychev stressed that despite the difficult financial situation, the state continues to consider education to be one of the leading areas of support. At the same time, the issue of efficiency remains important: budget funds should ensure quality education, safety, modern food, updated infrastructure and the creation of conditions for the development of each child.
He noted that the effectiveness of the use of funding largely depends on managers at all levels - from central government to local communities and educational institutions. Even if sufficient resources are available, their impact will be minimal without responsible management.
The official also stressed that improving the quality of education is a complex process that requires coordinated changes at the level of the state, communities, schools, teachers and families.
Yermolychev emphasised the need to create a National Education Quality Strategy, a document that will set a general framework for the formation of a modern, competitive and accessible education system focused on EU standards, economic needs and security challenges.
As you know, the relevant committee of the Verkhovna Rada has now taken a two-day break for additional consultations on approaches to reforming the system of remuneration for teachers.
